The Apostle Paul teaches in 1 Corinthians 12:12 that the Church is one body composed of many members. This truth finds a profound local expression in the Filipino concept of kapwa, articulated by Dr. Virgilio Enriquez through Sikolohiyang Pilipino. More than simple togetherness or courtesy, kapwa recognizes a shared identity rooted in mutual respect, responsibility, and solidarity. It calls us to bear one another’s burdens and rejoice in one another’s blessings as members of a shared community.
These truths reveal that the Church is a living body where every person carries dignity, every gift has purpose, and every member participates in God’s mission.
This conviction defines the Assembly of the Almighty God (AAG) as a Shared Governance-Driven Church—a distinct identity that values the participation of every member and the collective responsibility of its servant-leaders. Grounded in accountability, wisdom, and humble service, AAG recognizes that the Church is strengthened when each person faithfully contributes to God’s calling.
The story of AAG is a testimony to God’s providence and faithfulness. Conceived through prayer in late 2019 and officially recognized by the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in early 2020 (SEC Registration No. CN202071052), the Church stands as a witness to His guidance and the obedience of His servants.
Under the leadership of my father, Rev. Esly R. Tamayo, with the spiritual support of my mother, Ptr. Soledad V. Tamayo, and the dedication of its founding leaders, AAG was established upon biblical truth, servant leadership, and a commitment to God’s mission.
Through the prayers, sacrifices, and faithful contributions of those who embraced this vision, the Church’s legal foundation was established as an act of stewardship.
The involvement of my wife, Dr. Kristine E. Tamayo, and myself in facilitating the SEC registration process was embraced as part of our shared responsibility in advancing God’s work, with the humble recognition that every achievement, milestone, and blessing ultimately belongs to God and exists for His glory alone.
This conviction is anchored in the words of Scripture:
“Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.”
— Psalm 127:1, ESV
Thus, every milestone, accomplishment, and growth experienced by the Church is not merely the result of human effort, but a testament to God’s grace, guidance, and work through His faithful people.
As we continue our journey, Sa Kamay ng Diyos: A Journey of Faith and Purpose, may we always remember:
“In Deo servimus, in Deo ducimus.”
“In God we serve, in God we lead.”
Through a Shared Governance-Driven Church, faithful service, and collective responsibility, may we continue to fulfill God’s mission, recognizing that every calling, every achievement, and every ministry exists not for human recognition, but for the glory of God alone.
